Lion King Musical with TBFOSA

TBFOSA kicked off the 2021 holiday season by inviting the Sam Houston High School theater club out to an evening of entertainment and fun.  Twenty students ranging from 9th thru 12th grade, along with their theater director, attended the "Lion King" production at the Majestic Theatre.   The students had a great time and so did our board members!  We know from our very own personal experiences that performing arts can have a positive effect on a child's academic performance and also teaches children perseverance, creative problem-solving, and the ability to focus.  These great skills will build confidence and lead to classroom success.  Mr. Reese, Sam Houston's Theater Director wrote:

" Thank you and the organizations you are a part of, for providing my students the chance to see The Lion King at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio. My students are urban students who live on the east side and most of them have never seen a professional theatre production. One student said he’s never even seen a play. Another says he has only seen the plays his schools have produced over the years. I’m very excited my students will have this opportunity! They are all very excited to share this experience! Some students were not even aware there was a Broadway version of The Lion King, and they are curious how this motion picture box office hit can be translated to work on stage. Indeed, they are in for a treat! All students will benefit from seeing the show and for some it will be life-changing! Thank you again from the Sam Houston Theatre Department!"
